At 48 years of age I am about to embark on a ‘mid-life gap year’. I am leaving my work as a school teacher at Melville High School in Kempsey NSW Australia and plan to have a year travelling, learning, experiencing and descibing the journey through this time in my life.
There are many reasons why I have decided to leave my home by Lighthouse beach in Port Macquarie.
My two children are now ‘independent’ and living their own lives. Being on my own I need to discover who I am and what I want for myself now.
I need new opportunities, environments, people, places, cultures and time to inspire my thinking and help me achieve a clearer sense of self.
I need a revival of my enthusiasm, zest and revitalisation of my motivation for enjoying everything as well as challenging my enquiring mind.
I need to learn to live life for myself.
