Luchon to San Sebastian..

Travelled by private transfer to San Sebastian in the Basque, Spain. The border crossing soon became quite evident with different architectural styles. Checked into our pensione which is ok but we all agree a bit gloomy or something! We had an orientation tour of the city which has a lovely sandy bay and is located on the Atlantic ocean. We climbed Monte Urgull Mendina which has a large statue of Jesus presiding over the whole of San Seabastian. There is an interesting old quarter full of shops and bars which serve the Basque specialty “Pintxos” which means snacks served at the bar. We lunched on these and had two different lots at two different bars before final drinks at the Havana Bar. My i-photo is not working on my mac book air so no photos which is really annoying. Looks like technical assistance will have to be sought at the Apple store in Madrid. So, no pics I guess until. Hope its not major!!! Murphy’s Law!

Weekend Visitors…

Roseanne, Ted and Mabel drove down to Polperro in their new Landrover (about 5 hours) and we went fishing, crabbing in the rockpools (as they do here with buckets and nets) and caving with a dinner at The Blue Peter Inn.

Arrival in Mousehole…

I drove on to Penzance and the only evidence of Pirates was the radio station I was listening to “Pirate FM”. Checked into my dinner, bed and breakfast hotel “The Old Coastguard” for the night.ImageImage

Mosehole (pronounced Mouz’l) is a very picturesque cornish harbour village and I had a chilly but lovely walk with a rewarding visit to the Sandpiper Gallery, before settling in at the hotel with a glass of french red to accompany my use of technology.

Exploring…

Drove to Looe, Cornwall’s second biggest fishing port, picked up some supplies including fresh Haddock and Sole fillets. Followed some narrow country lanes to Talland Bay which was really picturesque. The things I’m liking about Cornwall so far are…clotted cream, daffodils and snowbells growing everywhere, old churches and graveyards, green fields going down to the sea, the clear stream Pol with ducks wading in it as it flows into the sea, the biggest seagulls I’ve ever seenImageImageImage
